Weekend Mountain Getaway

A few weekends ago we decided to do a short getaway. Travel has been a big part of our lives and since we haven’t been able to do that much at all this year, we’d been itching for some change of scenery. We booked a cabin in Pinecrest, California and it was just what I was looking for. We arrived after an easy 3.5 hour drive to cool weather and fresh mountain air. I’d never been to Pinecrest this time of year — typically I go with girlfriends in the summer and spend most of the time lounging by the lake — but I was curious to see how it might be different in the late fall and it did not disappoint. They drain the lake this time of year to allow for the snowfall and it was pretty strange to see, but made for some interesting photos.

We really took the time to just relax and unwind — took some walks, experienced our first snowfall of the season, ate comfort foods, sat by the fire and played games. I brought along this ultra cozy pullover that I’d picked up during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and it was perfect for lounging around in and my Sperry duckboots were put to the ultimate test when we decided to see how far out into the drained lake we could walk.
