Jewel Toned Tablescape
I mentioned in this post how every fall, my friends and I do a soup themed friendsgiving (dubbed “soupsgiving”). It’s something I look forward to every year and I feel like we’ve really hit our stride with making sure our soups are varied from brothy to creamy, that we aren’t over serving our first couple of bowls so we can be sure to try them all without getting overly full or filling up on too many appetizers before we get the soups going. This year I made a creamy cauliflower soup with rosemary olive oil and it was incredibly easy, but so tasty! I’ll definitely be making it again this season.
When it’s my turn to host, I love setting the table. It’s almost my favorite part of having people over. This year I wanted to switch things up and rather than going with a classic fall color scheme, I knew I wanted to use jewel tones. I found this beautiful block print tablecloth at an antiques faire and it was the base for my design. I layered on pumpkin colored placemats and built a centerpiece pulling in the colors from the tablecloth. I love collecting tabletop pieces that can be mixed and matched throughout the year, like the blue handblown glasses and striped linen napkins. Most of the pieces I used have been collected (or inherited) over the years. I love antiquing (and thrifting!) and always recommend starting there, but I’ve compiled some similar jewel toned pieces if you’re hosting this season and going for a similar look!
Etsy is a great place to find block print table clothes. I love this one. Fuchsia has always been a favorite color of mine, if you aren’t looking for a full tablecloth, this runner is great and the colors can work all year round. These striped napkins look identical to the ones I got from HomeGoods. I took a dahlia floral workshop and they gave us urns to work with and our arrangements turned out absolutely stunning. This is the first time I’ve used the urn again for an arrangement and its a great size and shape to have on hand. This one is very similar. I definitely recommend using chicken wire for a floral arrangement like this. It helps keep your stems in place! These twisted candlesticks are so fun! I love the texture they add.
