Bavarian Date Night at Home

Wanting to do something special for Valentine’s Day (but within the stay-at-home restrictions), I was looking for at-home date night inspiration and came across the idea for a Bavarian-themed dinner. It seemed like the perfect blend of not-too-fancy and something different from our usual dinner cuisines. Bonus, I got to try a new recipe — hello soft home-made pretzels — and have an excuse for a fun tablescape, even though it would be just the two of us.

For the meal itself, I used this pretzel recipe and picked up fancy mustard, some turkey bratwurst (who knew those existed?), and mini pickles. And don’t forget about the beer! The pretzel recipe wasn’t as challenging as I thought it might be and turned out pretty delicious. All in all, it was fun and different and the meal was more filling than we expected.

For the tablescape, I used a blue and white gingham table cloth from Homegoods (similar) and placed all the food on a butcher block cutting board as the centerpiece. Add flowers with a mix of simple candles and gold candlesticks in varying heights and you’ve got yourself an elevated beer garden experience! Most of what I used, I’ve had forever, but I linked a couple of similar options below!
