Classic Red Coats
Outfit details:
Ann Taylor coat (old, second hand option here and here), Madewell jeans, Marc Fisher shoes
Red is my favorite for the holidays. It’s so bold and instantly makes me feel festive, but isn’t outside of my comfort zone of something I would wear outside of the holiday season. It’s cheery and bright and I think I wear some amount of red, whether on my nails, sweater, coat, shoes or lips five out of seven days of the week during December. I got this red Ann Taylor double breasted wool coat years ago and it’s remained a closet staple. The silhouette is timeless, the color a perfect cherry red and the dark tortoise shell buttons make for a piece I know I’ll hold onto forever. They no longer sell the exact one, but I’ve been really enjoying finding pieces I love second hand and have found several of these online (here and here for example). The JCrew lady coat is another silhouette that’s feminine and classic. I own it in black, but if I was in the market for another red coat I would definitely consider this one. This is another option, very similar to the one I own, but slightly shorter in length. I love the gold buttons and details on this one. Or if you want the option for a belted look, either this or this one would fit the bill! This one from Gap has a slightly different cut that seems to be pretty popular right now, but still a classic style.
