Apple Picking
Fall is usually my favorite time of year! I love traveling in September and its the start of lots of fun activities and get togethers. We usually go to an Oktoberfest celebration and Renaissance Fair, then there’s Halloween and Thanksgiving and all the fun parties and activities surrounding the holidays. This year I was feeling pretty down about the idea of missing all of that because of the pandemic, but I decided to shift my perspective. Instead of comparing this year to previous years and being upset that it’s not the same, I thought I’d think of new and different activities that we can do and stop wallowing.
Enter apple picking! It’s always been on my list of things to do, but we never seemed to get to it and this year I thought it would be a great outdoor (making it somewhat safer) activity! Now, we aren’t on the East Coast where I was hoping to be this fall enjoying all of the New England fall foliage, but I did find an apple orchard that was open and only 45 minutes away in Watsonville called Clearview Orchards. It was a bit late in the season, so the apples were pretty picked over, but it was a beautiful day outside and we’ll definitely be visiting again next year to try again a bit earlier in the season.
The weather is still pretty warm here, so all of the inspiration photos I had been looking at wouldn’t have worked out. I loved the idea of jeans, boots and a sweater, but would have melted! So I pulled from the fall color palette, but chose light breezy fabrics and paired with booties to complete the look. I’m a bit new to mixing patterns, but somehow this flower print top paired perfectly with this burnt orange midi skirt.
