10 Things to Do This Fall
Sometimes I think I was born on the wrong coast. I mean, I’ve never lived anywhere with real seasons, so maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about and wouldn’t actually be able to handle it, but let’s say I could. I love fall. For all the reasons everyone else does—the crisp air, the changing leaves, the smells, the pumpkins! But, and maybe this is just because I used to be a teacher, or maybe it’s my Jewish roots (the Jewish New Year is in the fall), but there is just some sense of new beginnings and starting fresh when fall hits too. We still get fall in California, but every year I find myself pining for the quintessential New England fall. I want the autumnal colors across all the trees, the farm stands with apple cider donuts, sunflowers and pumpkins. The plaids, the corduroy, the cable knit sweaters and pea coats. Just thinking about it has me squirming in my seat a little, itching to plan a getaway. Bring on all the soup, cozy socks and fires in the fireplace.
So while my New England road trip dreams may be on pause this year, here are 10 things on my fall bucket list this year.
Go apple picking
Eat apple cider donuts
Spend an evening trying to escape a hay maze (or corn maze)
Visit a pumpkin patch
Take a road trip to see fall foliage
Try new soup recipes
Switch up home decor for the season (light fall-scented candles, put up an autumnal wreath, add in accent colors in hues of golds, oranges and rust)
Get a wardrobe refresh for the season by adding in colors of brown, tan, olive, eggplant and dusty rose and textures like corduroy, knits and suedes/leathers.
Bake an apple or pumpkin pie
Watch a not-so-spooky Halloween movie
