Halloween Books for Toddlers

I love reading children’s books. They’re nostalgic and funny, filled with interesting characters and beautiful illustrations. Reading to kids was always a favorite of mine when I was babysitting and then when I was teaching and so I’ve always known it would be something I would treasure doing with my own little ones one day. It’s part of our nightly routine, but I’m also happy to plop down with a book at any point in the day to read with Levi.

It feels especially fun to refresh the bookshelves for the season and put out on display holiday books and themed garlands (more on our Halloween decor here). We’re currently loving Mr. Pumpkin’s Tea Party and reading it on repeat (a possibly unintentional treat is that there is a cat on each page and we always try to spot him!). We’re also BIG Little Blue Truck fans, so the Halloween edition is also a great one. And It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse was one of the very first books I ever read to Levi where he seemed to have a reaction (at 2 months old) so it will always have a special place in my heart!

I did link some of our favorites through major retailers here, but I will always recommend supporting your local bookstores when possible! Not only because it’s great to shop small and local, but because bookstores are so wonderful and fun to browse! Typically the employees are super knowledgable and helpful and you will walk away with hidden gems. Going to the library is also a great option—especially for holiday books you may not read as often or when you aren’t sure if your child will be into a book.
