Cozy Lights
At some point I must have called our bedside lamps “cozy lights” as I ritualistically turned them on in our bedroom at dusk, because now that’s what Levi calls them. It’s the sweetest, but also so spot on. Adding in lamps into your decor around the house makes everything feel cozier, even when they aren’t on. They’re functional, but also just make a space look more complete. I won’t lie though—for the longest time I had lamps, but never used them, either having the overhead lights on if I was in a room for something or had them off if I wasn’t in the room. But now I’m obsessed with turning them on in the evening, it makes the space feel so inviting and there’s something to the ritual that I really enjoy, almost like a turndown service at the hotel it’s a signal to me, and the house, that we’re winding down for the evening and moving to a slower pace. The lamp in the photo is one of a pair I got at an estate auction, which I highly recommend for lamps. Lamps and lampshades are shockingly expensive, so when you can find either (or both!) second hand at a discounted price it’s a win all around! Check your local estate sales and even garage sales! I’ve also rewired a few old lamps myself with kits you can buy online and a quick Youtube tutorial, it’s really easy so don’t let old wiring on a simple lamp discourage your purchase!
