All the Red, Please!
I’m trying to soak in as much of holiday season as possible. There’s something so magical about this time of year – all the get togethers with loved ones, the decorations everywhere, the delicious food. Every year it comes and goes so quickly. Being the constant list-maker that I am, this year I started planning for the holidays in advance in the hopes that if I scheduled out a lot of the things I wanted to enjoy, I could be sure to squeeze it all in and appreciate it more in the moment. Give me till January and I’ll let you know if I feel like that really worked :) The first thing I wanted to make sure to do was pick out our Christmas tree. And to put me in the holiday spirit, I knew I wanted to be decked out in holiday red to do it.
I’d been on the hunt for the perfect red, wool coat for years. Literal years. The coats were either too maroon, too neon, the buttons weren’t right, they were too oversized, not feminine enough, the list goes on. I finally found what I thought might be the perfect coat, only to discover that this season it no longer came in that perfect red color. It was an Ann Taylor double breasted, wool coat and it was perfect. I did a quick search of the exact name (Ann Taylor Red Double Breasted Funnel Neck Pea Coat) and was delighted to find a new one for sale in my size (what are the chances?!) on Ebay! I couldn’t have been more pleased. I ordered it immediately. It did need a slight bit of alterations (the shoulders were just a touch too wide), but my local taylor was able to fix it up for a reasonable price and since I got it discounted on Ebay, the overall price was still less than it originally retailed for.
I paired it with a LOFT red sweater (old, similar here) and these adorably festive Ann Taylor shoes. I’m so happy with how the whole thing turned out. And we got a beautiful 8 foot noble fir (that just barely fits in our living room) to kick off our holiday decorating.
